Racing Louisville came into BMO Stadium sitting 16th in the NWSL table and left having snapped Angel City's three-game win streak with a 2-1 win, rookie Maja Lardner scoring both goals, the first two of her professional career, in the 24th and 55th minutes. Sveindís Jónsdóttir pulled one back for Angel City in the 80th, but Los Angeles couldn't find an equalizer despite six added minutes and a string of late chances that hit the crossbar and Maddie Prohaska's gloves, according to Racing Louisville's own recap and Angels on Parade's match report.

This is exactly the kind of result that was sitting there to be taken. Angel City arrived off three straight 2-0 wins and, by their interim coach Leif Smerud's own admission, "couldn't create enough in the first half." Louisville had little to lose and played like it, snapping a six-game winless run in the process. For Angel City, dropping from seventh to eighth, the lesson isn't about Louisville's quality, it's about complacency creeping into a team that had started to look comfortable. Form tables lie.
